Human Life International
The Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas
Human Life International
With 90 satellite offices in 75 countries, Human Life International (“HLI”) is the largest international, pro-life, pro-family,
pro-woman organization in the world.
HLI not only fights the evils of abortion, contraception, sex education and family breakdown, but also brings the good news of
the Gospel of Life to the nations. In many countries, HLI is the pro-life movement. Were it not for HLI, whole continents, like
Africa, would be left virtually defenseless against the culture of death.
What is HLI’s Mission?
HLI's mission is to train, organize and equip pro-life leaders around the world to promote and defend the sanctity of human
life and the dignity of the family. HLI fulfills this mission through prayer, service and education, in accordance with the teachings
of the Roman Catholic Church. Faithful to the Holy Father and the Magisterium, HLI is ecumenical and works with people of all
faiths to advance the cause of life.
Empowering Families Around the World
HLI believes the specific concerns and needs of local communities can be best identified by those who live there. Thus, its world
headquarters, located in Front Royal, Virginia, is an educational apostolate devoted to empowering international leaders and
the people they serve.
Empowering Families Around the World
HLI believes the specific concerns and needs of local communities can be best identified by those who live there. Thus, its world

the people they serve.
Since its founding in 1981 by Reverend Paul Marx, O.S.B., HLI has sponsored more than 70 international conferences and over
50 conferences in the United States. By means of pro-life missionary trips, HLI has also advised, inspired and trained pro-life
leaders, families, seminarians and students in approximately 160 foreign lands. The methods HLI employs in each country depend upon
the varying needs of the people and regions. For example:
In El Salvador, HLI's affiliate persuaded lawmakers to amend the constitution so as to secure and protect "the life of the
unborn from conception."
In Tanzania, HL's teen chastity outreach programs brought to national attention the United Nation's designs to force young
people to use defective condoms; HLI's detective work resulted in the destruction of over 10 million condoms.
HLI's office in Ireland prevented murder on the high seas by stopping the Dutch abortion ship Aurora from circumventing
Ireland's pro-life laws.
Through its satellite offices, HLI helps found crisis pregnancy centers, teach young couples Natural Family Planning, inform
parents about the dangers of sex education, train seminarians to be pro-life priests, equip counselors to advise families in crisis, educate
civic leaders on pro-life issues, host pro-life and pro-family radio and television programs, and much more!
A Global Approach
Due to HLI's dedication, more than 5,000 babies have been rescued in Chile and over 3,500 in Austria. In Mexico alone,
over 40,000 babies have been saved. Worldwide, tens of thousands of families are benefiting from HLI's global approach to
life and family issues.
Why HLI?
The babies are the reason why. Everything HLI does is dedicated to saving lives and strengthening families throughout the world.
Because we are the only pro-life presence in many countries—and because the culture of death is active on so many fronts—HLI's global
approach to promoting and defending the culture of life is indispensable.
The Catholic Pro-Life Committee of North Texas
The mission of the CPLC is to organize, educate, and mobilize all Catholics in the Dallas Diocese on pro-life issues, to effect their action
and to witness to God’s intention: the sanctity of life. We support the bishop by serving: (1) Unborn babies at risk for abortion and
their mothers, who need truth, love and support to choose life, (2) Young people who need moral guidance to guard the sacredness of
marital intimacy, and to reject the counterfeit of promiscuity and perversion, (3) Mothers and fathers who seek healing and reconciliation
for a past abortion and, (4) the Catholic community of Dallas, which needs leadership, information, support and opportunities to
advocate for a culture of life.
