The Lion's Den
For today’s entry, we have selected Five Principles For Effective Men’s Faith Formation Groups by Mark Houck and Damian Wargo
Tarek’s Comments: In my own journey, I can attest to the importance of surrounding myself with friends who share the same everyday struggles. The support is of infinite value, especially the accountability factor, whereby other men hold you to the standards you hold for yourself.
David’s Comments: Mark and Damian, through the King’s Men, are challenging men to fill the void of male leadership in religion today. Young men are openly expressing a greater interest in their faith today and we need to have role models (such as Chris Horn and the other Men of the Moment) to lead them. The problem is that we can’t wait for the next guy to be that role model. Starting a Faith Formation Group according to The King’s Men’s principles (which are applicable (and should be applied) to all Christian men) is a good way for each of us to be a role model…but as Mark and Damian point out, it’s not enough to form a group, that group has to be filled with men willing to identify themselves with their faith and take action.
